(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu vowed to respond to threats by Israel to offer military support to the separatist Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) to punish Turkey over reducing diplomatic ties with it.
“Every time someone wants to disturb Turkey, they try to use the PKK for this. We have the power to continue both an effective struggle against terrorism and maintain our efforts for democratization. No one can blackmail us,” Davutoglu said Sunday.
A report by Yedioth Ahranoth on Friday said Israeli FM Avigdor Lieberman is considering cooperating with PKK, which could involve military support for the group to retaliate against Turkey’s set of sanctions after Israel refused to apologize for killing eight Turks in the interception of a Gaza aid ship last year.
The Turkish FM said Israel faces growing isolation in the region because “it does not understand the big transformation” that has been taking place across the region.
Meanwhile, Turkish Prime Minister Erdogan said he would not visit the besieged Gaza Strip on his tour of Arab Spring countries that began Monday in Egypt.
Before departing from Istanbul, the PM said visiting Gaza was not in his itinerary this time but he hoped to do so as soon as possible.
In his statement, he also described Israel as a brat who has been spoiled by those around him over time.
